Tips for Navigating Christmas After Loss

SHOW NOTES: Episode 32

Christmas can be a hard time of year when you have experienced a pregnancy loss. In this episode, I am giving you advice on navigating the Christmas season after experiencing your pregnancy loss.

I understand that Christmas can be a challenging time for those who have experienced pregnancy loss. I want to emphasize that it's perfectly okay to feel differently during the holidays. Give yourself permission to experience your emotions fully.

I also want to stress the importance of speaking up about your needs and feelings. People around you are not mind readers, and it's crucial for your healing process to express what you're going through.

In the midst of grief, it's essential to decide which traditions you want to continue and let go of the ones that no longer serve you. I recommend making a list of important dates and facts to combat the memory fog that grief often brings.

Asking for help and seeking support is another crucial step in your healing journey. This support can come from friends, family, or professionals. It's important to normalize the impact of pregnancy loss on mental, emotional, and physical health.

I encourage you to practice self-care, which can take many forms. One way is to create a list of activities that bring you joy and grounding. This list can serve as a reminder to take time for yourself, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed.

Remember, it's okay to skip events and prioritize your well-being. There's no need to push yourself to attend every holiday gathering if it doesn't feel right for you.

I am providing a resource that you can download and it also includes information on my “Nurture Your Nervous System” program as well, a resource for healing.

I hope that this episode helps you manage your grief during the holidays and prioritize your well-being.
