Build the pregnancy loss support women can't find, with mentoring and a community behind you

The Reproductive Loss Leaders Room is a membership for doulas, birth workers, counsellors, coaches and loss mums training to do this work. Every fortnight we meet live to work on the gap you want to fill in your own practice.

Why the Room exists

In 2017 I left hospital with discharge paperwork and nobody to call

After an ultrasound showed no heartbeat, staff moved me behind a banner in the main waiting room so other patients wouldn't see me. My baby had died at seven weeks. I went home that day with paperwork in my hand, and nobody ever followed up.

Two years later I surveyed 40 women across six countries about what happened after their miscarriage. 85% of them told me they'd received no professional referral at all.

She falls through the gaps between appointments

After a pregnancy loss she might see a GP, an emergency doctor, a midwife, a fertility clinic and a grief counsellor, and each of them sees one piece of what she's carrying. Mental health care after loss sits between maternity care and grief services, claimed by neither, so it rarely reaches her at all.

In practice, I often see the people who could catch her already sitting across from her. They care deeply, and nobody has ever shown them where she falls through. She already trusts them too, and most women don't want to tell their story again to someone new. When the practitioner in front of her knows how to stay with her, what happens next changes.

Who joins the Room

You belong here if you can see the gap and want to fill it

You already support women

You're a doula, midwife, counsellor, coach or birth worker, and when a woman brought her loss into the room you hit the edge of what your training covered. You want to hold her with confidence and build pregnancy loss support into the practice you already run.

Your own loss is calling you into this work

You might still be in your old job, with an Instagram page set up and no idea what comes next. You don't need clients to belong here. You'll shape your offer alongside women who are already doing this work, with me mentoring you through it.

What's inside

Everything is shaped around the gap you want to fill

  • Fortnightly live mentoring with me. Bring a woman you're supporting or the work you're building, and leave with your next step.
  • The full Gap Series training library, including Birth Trauma Care GAP for Bereaved Mothers and The Mental Health Care Gap, with the research citations behind every session.
  • New Gap Series trainings as they're released, with The Biology of Grief coming soon.
  • Guest presenters from across the field.
  • PDF resources you can use with the women you support.
  • A referral library of other professionals, so your handovers are warm ones.
  • A community where every conversation is about reproductive loss, in all its forms.
  • 1:1 support with me at a member rate whenever you want to go deeper.
From inside the Room

"Your entire body went through birth, death, trauma, and it's minimised to a couple of words on a file."

Sharna, Birth Trauma Care GAP training

"There has been something I've taken out of each of these masterclasses. They have all been so packed full of aha moments, to help me understand more of my journey or to help me understand others."

Hi, I'm Sharna Southan

I'm a Trauma Informed Pregnancy Loss Practitioner and the founder of The International Institute of Reproductive Loss Leadership. I created the Pregnancy Loss Recovery Methodā„¢, and the practitioners I've certified now support women in the USA, the UK, Croatia and Australia.

I host What I Wish I Knew After Pregnancy Loss, I've spoken at the Australian Fertility Summit, and I'm the cover feature of Grief Talk Magazine's December 2026 issue. I built this Room for the practitioners who will catch the women I wasn't able to reach on my own.

Questions

Before you join

Do I need clients to join?

No. Members who are already supporting women bring their clients, and members who are still building bring their offer, their messaging or the first step they're stuck on. Both belong in the room from day one.

Do I need a clinical qualification?

No. The Room is for anyone supporting women after pregnancy loss or training to. We work within your scope, which includes knowing where your role ends and how to hand her over warmly when she needs something more.

How is the Room different from the certification?

The Room gives you ongoing mentoring and community at a monthly rate. The Pregnancy Loss & Trauma Informed Specialist Certification is in-depth training in the Pregnancy Loss Recovery Methodā„¢. Plenty of women start in the Room and move into the certification when they're ready.

What if I can't make a live session?

Every Gap Series training goes into the library, so you can watch it in your own time and post your questions in the Leaders chat space.
