Part 1: The Most Powerful Ways to Heal Birth Trauma for Mothers, Babies, and Fathers with Susan Ross

SHOW NOTES: Episode 28

I have Susan Ross, a nurse and childbirth educator, on today to share more into healing birth trauma. We dive into her extensive experience in healthcare, her deep passion for supporting birthing women, and her expertise in healing birth trauma. Susan emphasizes the significance in addressing trauma before subsequent pregnancies and highlights the incredible power of mind during pregnancy and childbirth.

Susan also delved into her work in hypnotherapy, specifically in helping women heal from deep fears and anxieties related to birth trauma. She shared a powerful example of a woman who experienced trauma, demonstrating the transformative power of hypnotherapy.

One of the key points Susan made was the importance of communication and connection during pregnancy. She explained that it is powerful to communicate with the baby as if they are physically present outside the womb, laying down a blueprint for their future. She encourages you to acknowledge your own emotions and disagreements during your pregnancy, reassuring the baby that these issues are not their fault. This helps teach the child how to manage conflict and resolve issues in the future.

I also added a myth that having a healthy baby will automatically make everything okay. I shared the importance of addressing trauma, mindset, and overall holistic health during pregnancy to create a well-adjusted and thriving baby. I shared my own experience of talking to my baby throughout my pregnancy, even though I had fears and concerns about parenting after loss.

Susan also discussed the role of men in pregnancy and childbirth. She highlighted the need to have open discussions about parenting and the fears and anxieties that men may have. She explained the importance of giving men space to process their emotions and fears.

Susan explained how birth trauma can impact both mothers and babies. She stressed the need to heal and release any trauma from previous births or life experiences in order to create a positive and healthy environment for the baby. Susan mentioned that anxiety and doubt during pregnancy can stem from how the mother was grown and birthed, as well as her overall life experiences.

She believes that women have the power to create a positive birth experience and that healing past trauma is essential for both the mother and the baby. She discussed her hypno-pregnancy program, which helps women heal their minds and release any unconscious trauma. Susan also mentioned that it's never too late for a woman to heal from a traumatic experience and create a better future for herself and her child. Our conversation concluded with a discussion on how trauma can affect a person's overall well-being and the importance of addressing and releasing it.

My conversation with Susan Ross was a deep dive into the world of childbirth, trauma, and healing. It was a reminder of the power of the mind in pregnancy and childbirth, and the importance of addressing trauma for the well-being of the mother, baby, and father.

This is part 1 of our discussion and I look forward to sharing part 2 with you next week!
